August Inquiry : Permission

RE:Being Letter

A monthly practice in becoming a better learner of yourself.

August 2026

What are you waiting for permission to begin?

(question of inquiry is the title one photo from life)

ARRIVAL

Every practice begins the same way.

Not with movement.

Not with answers.

With noticing,

Welcome.

THIS MONTH'S

INQUIRY:

PERMISSION

I've had RE:BEING building inside me for years.

At first, I couldn't name it. I just knew I wanted a place to explore the human experience through movement, conversation, and creativity alongside others who were asking their own questions.

A year ago, I finally gave myself the time to begin putting the pieces together. There were moments of momentum, moments of doubt, and long stretches where I wasn't sure what I was building. More than once, I stopped because I thought I needed more clarity before I could continue.

Looking back, I don't think I was waiting for clarity.

I think I was waiting for permission.

Permission to begin before everything made sense.
Permission to create something that didn't fit neatly into a category.
Permission to trust an idea that had been quietly growing for years.

Each time I returned to it, RE:BEING was still there, asking me to keep tending to it.

So here we are.

Just a little closer than we've ever been before.

Welcome.

As you move through this month's letter. I invite you to carry the same question with you: What are you waiting for permission to begin?

PRACTICE

Try This:

Permission doesn't always arrive as confidence.

Sometimes it looks like taking one small step before certainty catches up.

This week, choose one thing you've been postponing because it doesn't feel "ready."

Begin anyway.

If this practice shifts something for you, I'd love to hear about it. Reply to this email. I read every response.

FIELD NOTES

Still wondering ... What becomes possible when we stop waiting to feel ready ?

In my own practice, I tried a new transition.

Not once did I think, I can't do this.

I only thought, This is going to be wild... let's see what happens.

I also had the support of my teacher.

I've been wondering how much courage comes from within, and how much is made possible by feeling supported.

  • Is permission the first access to safety ?
  • Do we feel safe to explore the unknown?
  • What creates a safe environment for learning minds to try new things ?

I experimented with a new way of teaching.

At first, it felt out of integrity with how I understood the physical practice.

Then I realized...

Maybe it wasn't out of integrity.

Maybe it was simply unfamiliar.

Trying something new often feels uncomfortable before it feels authentic.

can I give myself permission to explore the unknown with out focusing on what I dislike? can a give something a real chance before I judge based on my old narratives?
